Massage and Immunity

Updated: Jan 2, 2022

Did you know regular massage has been shown to strengthen the immune system?

Massage therapy has been shown to increase the activity level of the body’s white blood cells that work to combat viruses. According to a study from Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, participants in a Swedish massage group increased their white blood cell count and decreased stress hormone levels. Because of this immune response, massage therapy is a great choice during cold and flu season.

Disclaimer: Massage is not recommended when flu symptoms are present, only as preventative maintenance.
